No: The first thing to do is to clearly establish that this is a ganglion. There are other possibilities that could present similarly. Splinting has no helpful role in the treatment of ganglions and can lead to significant stiffness of the joints if applied improperly. The best thing to do is to see a hand surgeon, who can definitively diagnose you and recommend the correct course of action.
