Not serious: You are likely describing premature heart beats which are not a sign of heart disease in an otherwise healthy patient. The pair of fast heart beats consist of a regular beat followed immediately by a second premature heart beat. These premature atrial(PAC) or ventricular(PVC) contractions are not uncommon. Anxiety, fatigue and caffeine can cause an increase in these premature beats.
