A member asked:

Do you think losing virginity is linked to acne going away? do hormones change - i don't have really serious acne but i have pimples 22yrs old female

Possibly: The typical answer is likely to be "no", as Western medicine is based on science, and I am not aware of any studies, who would have shown that loosing virginity of sex for that matter improves acne. However, on an individual basis and from a psycho-endocrinological standpoint, i.e., the interaction of psyche and endocrine/gland system, I think that positive change in psyche may improve acne.

Acne: No, there is no significant correlation between the two issues. Acne tends to start with the onset of puberty, gets worse for few years and then resolves by late teens to early 20s.

NO: Acne on adult females is mostly hormonal and hormones change. Your menstrual cycles reflect that. Meds, especially birth control, influence acne. Whether or not you are virgin is not relevant.
