Low ef: why is he refusing a cath. If he has heart disease cath can help diagnose and in some cases treat. HF untreated is a progressive disease. Try and help him cope and seek the right medical care he needs, may save his life. Don't let him give up.

EF 30%: Patients with EF like 30% need to be evaluated for the cause and treated appropriately. Sometimes medication only and sometimes surgical treatments are appropriate. Often we need cardiac cath/angiography to help with therapeutic decisions. The patient's doctor with the most information about the patient is the best placed to discuss survival rates and treatment options.
