My sister is 22 and generally healthy (though possibly gluten sensitive or maybe has celiac disease; she also gets symptoms of raynauds disease). she just found out she has anemia. what are some possible reasons for/explanations of the anemia? thx.

Autoimmune: all symptoms you are explaining-- celiac disease, Raynaud's phenomenon) lead to auto immune etiology and we do know some anemia a can be caused by same disease process. Have her seen by her PMD-- who can figure out the reason behind this anemia with few simple tests

Anemia: there are many causes for anemia but iron deficiency tends to be the more likely in females of her age particularly with blood loss from menstraul cycles. blood loss may also occur from her GI tract but typically with something more sinister then gluten sensitivity. Gluten sensitivity in itself would not directly cause anemia

Anemia: Celiac disease is an inflammatory disorder that might be associated wi impairment of blood production per se but anemia would need to evaluated by your primary physician to ensure it is not caused by other problems such as blood loss or other associated illness.
