Need consultation: Hello From your description it looks like there is nothing seen on your skin like a rash or lesion and no trauma. Frequently Shingles can start like this with a hypersensitivity of the skin or pain without anything else. If clinical suspicion is high for this, treatment needs to be started early to prevent it from progressing. I do think you should see a physician as soon as possible.

Possible nerve pain: Your pain sounds like nerves may be involved/ inflamed. That is a common area to have a nerve get inflamed and cause pain along it course. Also a common place to see shingles which also involves nerves. I have also seen Bell's Palsy be preceded by these types of SX. A more detailed consultation could help determine cause. See your provider or use a HealthTap Dr for Inbox consult.
