Possibly: Because vasoline is fat-based, it is possible that applied vasoline to the nose can be inhaled into the lungs. This is not very likely if used sparingly, but can occur. If that happens over a period of time, it can lead to lipoid pneumonia. When treating your dry nose it is best to use a water-based lubricant such as a saline gel that can be purchased over-the-counter.
