Darkness: Where does the darkness go when you turn a light on? Does it disappear? You can't really "remove" your depression. It is part of you. In some ways it is part of all of us. For some it is very problematic. There are ways to cope with and alleviate most feelings of depression over time. A good psychologist and possibly psychiatrist can help you with this.

Psychologist.: Depression is terrible. Hurts both emotionally and physically. Counseling with a psychologist would be your best bet to find a lasting remedy. Medications can help in the short term, but are not an appropriate replacement for counseling. Good luck.

1-Lifestyle, 2-Meds: Lifestyle changes can be a powerful way to remove depression. Research shows that regular exercising (vigorously if your doctor approves) helps. Meditation has also been shown to help for some people. Psychotherapy, especially cognitive-behavioral therapy, has been shown to help. There are many different antidepressant medications also - consult your doctor.
