SLE: Dear Gabrielle, a cough and painful chest (you mention ribs), makes me concerned. Pleurisy (inflammation of the lining of the lung) can be a feature of active SLE. It also appears you have active skin manifestation, and arthritis. My suggestion is to get a chest xray and blood work through the nearest ER. They can then advise you further based on results.
