Muscle tension pain: It seems like you have muscle tension pain. There is a muscle that starts from the back of head and goes to neck and upper back. It is not usually serious. Use ice and rest it by avoiding neck movements that cause the pain. Medicines like Aleve (naproxen) or Advil should help also.
