Not tired.: I first described yawning and hiccuping in the first trimester of pregnancy about 20 years ago. All fetuses yawn and hiccup at least once an hour if you watch them long enough with ultrasound. I believe both reflexes are necessary for normal lung development. After birth, we don't need the reflexes anymore, and the frequency gradually lessens. Perhaps he is dreaming about being in your uterus?
