Sounds like flu too: children at that age are very good at generating high fevers. The body shivers to generate more heat, so the temperature will go up. If a nasal swab is positive for influenza he can be treated within the first 48 hours with Tamiflu to help get rid of it. Don't be concerned that the acetaminophen is not bringing his fever down, as it helps fight infection. Good time for a clinic check up.
