Flu: Sounds like flu symptoms. Usually an illness would start as a virus then become bacterial. If this gets worse then you should see a doctor.

Viral: If your fever has gone away it sounds like you are getting better. If you are actually getting worse, the swelling in the throat is worsening or the high fever returns, ask your doctor for a throat culture.
