Yes: Depakote passes through breast milk in humans. Although the full risks of taking Depakote during breastfeeding are unknown, most documented cases suggest there is little risk to breastfed infants. Many pediatricians consider Depakote to be safe during breastfeeding. Still, if your doctor recommends taking Depakote while breastfeeding, be sure to watch for any side effects.
