Likely normal: You are probably noticing normal conjunctival tissue variations. The upper eyelid protects the upper eyeball from UV, drying, dust, etc., which generally keeps the tissue thicker and slightly different in its appearance. This is unlike the conjunctiva that is exposed between the eyelids (intrapalpebral) which is generally thinner with more prominent blood vessels.
