Usually normal!: The classic "soft spot" on babies is the anterior fontanelle, a space that is needed for the head to expand and take shape as the brain grows. Your pediatrician will examine your baby and determine if the soft spot is within the normal range or if it needs to be paid close attention.

Dr. Lisa Roberts

No: Your baby may have a common benign newborn condition called "cradle cap". It is a kind of baby dandruff caused by overactive oily glands on the scalp. Try applying a small amount of baby oil or olive oil to the scalp, then using a soft baby brush to gently remove the flakes, and then wash your baby's hair. If that does not do the trick, contact your doctor as there are alternative treatments.

Same as body: There is inflammation amd thickening of the skin with thick attached scales. Although psoriasis can occur only in the scalp it usually accompanies psoriasis on other parts of the body.
