Taper instead: Benzodiazepine withdrawal can certainly cause significant anxiety, which may affect your brain in different ways. I would recommend you taper off benzodiazepines, under the supervision of a doctor, if you are experiencing significantly uncomfortable symptoms.

Yes: Benzodiazepine withdrawal can result in a number of neuropsychiatric manifestations, including feelings of depersonalization or derealization, hallucinations, anxiety and even delirium. Cold-turkey withdrawal is dangerous. You need to talk to your health care provider about options - either a taper or using anticonvulsants (depakote, tegretol, gabapentin), which also reduce chance of seizure.

Yes: Not really schizophrenia symptoms, but thought disturbances, which are seen in delirium. I hope you are safe otherwise: the biggest concern would be seizure. Why did this happen? If you need to come off a benzodiazepine, it can be done by an informed taper, which avoids all this.

Yes: Abrupt withdrawal from benzodiazepines can cause hallucinations and bothersome thoughts especially when abrupt after high dosages. IT should be tapered and the patient should be monitored. Switching from short acting benzodiazepine such as Xanax (alprazolam) to longer acting ones such as Klonopin can be part of the withdrawal process which should be done under the supervision of a physician.

Benzo withdrawal can: Be life threatening, especially if it’s associated with hallucinations, among other symptoms. To be on the safe side, please present to the nearest emergency department or at least an Urgent Care facility to ensure your safety.

It may look like it: withdrawal symptoms may mimic quite few psychiatric conditions. However if you have not a dx of schizophrenia, most likely you not developing schizophrenia during a withdrawal state. you may develop weird symptoms, which may require help . YES: Depending on the dose of benzos you were taking the withdrawal is going to be severe or mild. Your symptoms are possible during a withdrawal period and may need additional medications to help with withdrawal.
