A member asked:

I'm 24 weeks pregnant and the cord is wrapped around the baby's neck and it's been a month and she still hasn't unwrapped it, how serious is this?

Common finding: Many fetuses are noted to have nuchal cords while in-utero. Frequently the first sign of this are variable decelerations in labor. While in rare instances a fetus can experience a "cord accident" resulting in fetal loss, the overwhelming majority have positive outcomes.

Busy babies: This is a common finding and felt to represent fetal activity as early as 12 weeks. (more room for somersaults) I have had a patients with as many as 5 wraps do well, but needed a c-section delivery.I would not expect baby to unwind (less room now), and many are delivered below with only 1 wrap.Have a well monitored labor and be ready if a c-section is recommended early in the process.
