Depends: Usually anything spicy or acidic would increase throat soreness. However, in certain types of mouth conditions with ulcers where you would expect it to be the worst possible thing, Capsaicin (a hot pepper extract) actually helps. Go figure. Trust what your throat tells you about whatever you try, but go easy. Ice is a good fallback if you chose incorrectly...
