Itchiness sternum: Itchinesss can occur elevated urea, or bile. Would check complete metabolic profile for kidney/ liver/bile function. I have seen it with food intolerances, irritable bowel so keep food diary, rarely mass like lymphoma. If persists consider CT, f/U with doc

Consider hepatitis: also...keep watching for any sign of rash to appear. Try not to scratch or irritate the area, apply a topical antihistamine cream if you want to try something. But yes, could be internal so see doc if it worsens or persists.

Stress?: Itching localized to just a small area is not at all likely to be from an internal condition. There are a number of internal systemic illnesses that can cause GENERALIZED itching, but not localized itching. Most Dermatologic disorders that cause itching also show some kind of rash. It's quite likely your itching is a stress reaction(psychosomatic)For additional information>> http://bit.ly/1OiIRcI
