Details matter: Where on your body? How large? How long? Every hair has an associated oil gland secreting sebum. An ingrown hair may have a blocked oil gland at it's root which may form a pocket (cyst) of sebum. There may also be residual swelling, inflammation which can subside over a week or 2.
