I had stabbing pains in head for a week on and off then had a really strange dizzy spell which lasted under a min felt like i was going to have stroke?

Not a stroke: Relax, neither of those are stroke symptoms. Stabbing pains sound like "ice pick"headaches - irritating, but benign. A single dizzy spell means nothing, and even multiple dizzy spells are usually serious only when caused by a cardiac arrhythmia.
