Chicken pox: Chicken pox is caused by a virus, and, there is no medication to help it resolve faster. However, to help with the itching, you can try giving your child an oatmeal bath and anti-histamines to help with the itching. Benadryl (diphenhydramine) will work best, but it may cause sedation. Cetirizine is less sedating and last 24 hrs. If pus forms on the lesions, he/she should see a doctor.

Comfort measures: You try to keep these kids clean ard rince their sores frequently.A tepid bath every few hours will help wash away the salt from their sweat that aggravates their itching.Aveeno powder added to the water also helps with itching. Each sore should bubble up/drain & dry over a day. Those that become angry red/pusy or swollen may need medical attention as a 2ndary infection. No aspirin but tylenol ok
