A member asked:

Is sam-e effective for oa and depression?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

SAM-e has been: studied in comparison with standard SSRI's (Zoloft (sertraline) being the most often used) and found to be effective in reducing the symptoms of MINOR depression at about the same rate. It is not good for MAJOR depression and should be used with medical supervision because it can interact with other meds. Don't know about OA. SAM-e also boosts synovial fluid and helps rebuild tissue
