A member asked:

I got trich from my bf, i'm on metronidazole. his dr. who is his friend didn't test him and said it goes away on its own in men. should he be treated?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

He needs treatment.: Trichomoniasis is caused by the protozoa Trichomonas vaginalis. Untreated trichomonal vaginitis is associated with a range of adverse reproductive health outcomes. Both symptomatic and asymptomatic carriers need to be treated. Both partners need to avoid intercourse until both partners have completed treatment. Retest within 3 months. It does not go away for men. He could reinfect you.
