Enlarged tonsils: can result from an ongoing (chronic) condition or be the temporary effect of an infection. Very large tonsils may cause snoring and sleep apnea or cause trouble swallowing. If you seem to be ill, be tested for an infection; antibiotics should treat the problem. Consult your doctor: an examination will reveal whether medication or surgery is needed. Good wishes:)

Variability: Tonsil size is variable. If your large tonsils are uncomfortable or interfere with function, see an ENT surgeon about tonsillectomy.
