It depends: What did you go to the ER for? If it was for upper abdominal pain, perhaps with nausea, then there's a good chance it was caused by your gallbladder. If it was, then it will get worse over time until you have it taken out.

Biliary sludge: Doesn't mean much aside from more bile acid build up in the gall bladder. With more build up, gall stones can grown in size leading to more pain and potential for blockage of the duct preventing the bile acid from exiting the gall bladder. If everything gets backed up in the gall bladder, this could lead to more pain, infection and an indication to get it removed.
