Antibiotics alone: For the moment the antibiotics should be enough. Steroids later, if necessary.

Pneumonia: If pneumonia is caused by a bacteria, then the treatment is antibiotics. Steroids do not treat bacterial infections. I would say if your child is not improving with the antibiotic within 48-72 hours, then i would call your pediatrician to see if they need further evaluation.
