Breakthrough bleed: Breakthrough bleeding is a common side effect of any hormonal therapy medication for contraception. Usually the emergency hormonal therapy has a type of progesterone that helps to thin the endometrial lining making it incompatible with implantation of the embryo. The thinning can likely cause this bleeding she is seeing. Seek help from her primary doc if bleeding continues.
