Monitor weight: If weight gain occurs with Celexa (citalopram), (citalopram) it is gradual and reversible when med is stopped. Weight gain while taking Celexa (citalopram) should be carefully reviewed to make sure other causes are ruled out. Discuss any weight gain that's unusual for you with prescribing doctor and consider another med not likely to effect your weight. Good you're aware and can monitor your weight while on this med. Take care.

Celexa (citalopram): There is nothing absolute about Celexa (citalopram) that would cause weight gain, it is just one of the things that occurred to some people in clinical trials. I never assume the med will cause this, but even if some occurred it would be small and could be reversed. Weight is just calories in and calories expended. If you get a positive mood effect that is important and any small side effect could be prevented
