Depends-size/shape: Ideally, you should get an X-ray to see if magnet has passed below level of diaphragm (likely though stomach). If magnet is small and blunt and you have no symptoms, then observation is recommended. If large, sharp or you have symptoms, seek immediate medical attention. Otherwise, If it doesn't pass within 4 days -> seek medical attention.

Be sure it is one...: This used to be a ped prob but is now being recognized as a prob for everyone. Magnets today are in many diff items & are much stronger than in the past. If it was 1 small smooth magnet, nothingit will pass in 1 day to about a week. If there is ANY CHANCE it was 2 magnets or also something metal this needs URGENT EVALUATION, the magnets (metal) can link up & block or make a hole in the intestine.
