More details needed: Where was the Staph infection ? Was it in the blood ? Or a skin wound ? Also do you know further details - like was it MSSA vs MRSA ? Generally MSSA infections are more easily treated with antibiotics called penicillins or cephalosporins. MRSA infections are more resistant, and may require IV or Oral antibiotics like Bactrim (sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim). But more details are needed before one can make a proper recommendation

It depends: upon the Staphyloccal strain you are infected by!!!!! Its VERY IMPORTANT to obtain CULTURE and SENSITIVITY since many are now Methicillin resistant (MERSA) and VERY damaging and communicable! The drug should be chosen by your Primary Care PHYSICIAN! Hope this helps! Dr Z
