A member asked:

What is the difference between diverticulitis and diverticulosis?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Infected or not: Diverticulosis is a condition where the colon develops small pockets that can bulge out from the wall of the colon. It usually develops in people with constipation. Diverticulitis is a condition where these pockets become infected, requiring antibiotics or sometimes surgery. Hope that helps!
