Consider UTI: In may cases, people do experience lower back pain in early pregnancy. However, there are other conditions which may be serious. Urinary infections are increased in pregnancy. They most likely did check a urinalysis; if not, this does need to be checked. An infection in the uterus is another cause, and a pelvic exam is necessary to evaluate for this. In some cases a pregnancy in tube may bleed.
