No: Delayed anaphylaxis to red meat occurs in association with allergy to a particular carbohydrate allergy acquired usually from frequent tick or chigger bites, typically from the lone star tick. Alpha-gal is the carbohydrate involved. As in cases of more traditional IgE-mediated immediate sensitivity to pollen, venom or food allergy, it is an over active, not a weakened immune system.
