What serious damages can diabetes do to a person's health?

Many complications: The high glucose takes its toll on the eyes, kidneys, which can lead to blindness, kidney failure. Nerve damage too. Also, diabetes is a powerful risk factor for heart disease. Amputations are the result of nerve damage, poor blood flow, and poor wound healing.

Many problems!: Diabetes damages the blood vessels in the body. Damage to large blood vessels can result in stroke or heart attack (diabetics have the same heart attack risk as someone who's already had a heart attack!). Damage to small blood vessels can result in blindness (diabetes is the most common cause of adult blindness), neuropathy, and kidney failure - requiring dialysis or kidney transplant. Prevent it!
