period always lasts 2 days, stops on 3rd day, comes back for a short time on 4th day, then gone. why does it stop and come back in this same pattern?

Not a problem: Likely you are "shedding" most of the lining of the uterus and then either the remainder or blood that is retained in the uterus is being expelled after that one day. I would not worry about it.
