Follow up nodule: thyroid nodules are very common especially in older patients. The vast majority are not cancer and just hyper plastic nodules (overgrowth of normal tissue). In young patients like yourself thyroid nodules should be watched more closely. A nodule less than 1 cm in size does not require biopsy unless there are suspicious features such as calcification or increased blood flow. Talk to your doctor.
