Retaining urine: results in stretching of the bladder and compression of surrounding tissues. This commonly causes pain that is relieved by emptying the bladder. It is not unusual for there to be some tenderness of the area later due to inflammation. Try to avoid retaining urine which increases the risk of infections and can cause more serious problems.
