Eds: there are many types of Ehler Danlos syndrome and each varies in its clinical presentation. Often pain is related to joints, but when a joint is subjected to unusual stress, it can stress the muscles leading to spasm and pain. Genetic tests are now available that leads to an earlier disgnosis ( as early as infancy)

Yes: EDS can cause a variety of painful issues over time. It is a genetic/congenital disease, and usually (though not always) diagnosed early in life because of extreme hypermobility. Here's a pretty good article about it. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ehlers%E2%80%93Danlos_syndrome It's fairly rare. But not all physicians know about it, so educate yourself, do the self tests, and then ask.

Indirectly, yes.: Ehler-Danlos syndrome is a genetic defect in the structure of collagen (or its building blocks). Collagen reenforces the connective tissue that provides strength and form to the soft tissues of our body. Abnormal collagen can cause weakness of muscles & joints, leaving them more prone to injury & pain. Milder cases are often overlooked until well into adolescence & beyond. Helpful?
