Mouth bacteria waste: Bacteria live in our mouths, consuming food we eat and excreting wastes, often from anaerobes. These wastes contain sulfur compounds that are malodorous. Solution: floss, brush 2X/day, brush and scape tongue, try anti-bacterial gel, use alcohol free mouthwash, drink lots of water, eat/drink less acids foods/drinks. Fit people sweat sooner/more efficiently. Coffee/alcohol increase perspiration.

Tongue coating : Whitish discoloration on the tongue could indicate that your tongue is dry, possibly due to inadequate hydration. Sometimes, it indicates irritation of the taste buds with alteration in the oral flora, possibly related to oral hygiene issues . Good oral care with gentle brushing of the tongue, as well as adequate hydration with water is helpful. Sweating easily usually means you are in good shape.

Sulphur: Bad breath often caused by sulphur producing bacteria. Brushing alone will not solve your problem. See your PCP or ENT to rule out infected tonsils/adenoids/sinuses. Then see your Dentist for brushing (including tongue) instructions, floss and/or Water Pik use, and use of tongue scraper. Eliminate odoriferous foods from your diet.

DDS-dental concerns: If you feel that your condition warrants a medical consultation, seek the help of your primary care MD. From a dental perspective, try diligent home care inclusive of a tongue scraper on a daily basis. If your dental concerns have not resolved, see your DDS.

See your PCP: It is Xerostomia also called dry mouth. If it is not fungus, the coated tongue appears in cases of a dried mouth. Bacteria multiply in the mouth also due to a poor digestive system and poor hygiene. See your PCP for examination and treatment if needed.
