Yes: Increases in diastolic pressure and systolic pressure occur during periods of anxiety, as anxiety is tied to stress hormones that increase pressure within the cariocascular system. Increases in blood pressure on account of anxiety due to a medical encounters is referred to as white coat syndrome.
