Yes very painful: ' swimmers ear ' is external otitis , most common cause of ear ache . In ear canal skin is firmly adherent to the bone ,due to this reason any swelling due to infection produce pressure on nerve endings cut branch of vagus causing pain , just bear fews days and will clear
