DUB: It sounds less like ovulation (brown discharge/old blood suggests non-ovulation) and more like dysfunctional uterine bleeding (DUB) which often results from hormonal imbalances during menstrual cycle. DUB is treated by trying to regulate the hormones. You don't mention contraception, but DUB is often treated by birth control pills for ongoing regulation of hormones. Pregnancy should be excluded.
