By now.: Should be working by now. If not, see ENT doc. If painful to touch, is swimmers ear. May need ear suctioned and wick placed in addition to oral antibiotics. If middle ear infection and no pain. Will take a while for fluid in ear to dissipate.

If the antibiotics: are helping, the pain should be starting to go away by now.The infection may not be gone by then;there still may be fluid behind the ear drum which can cause discomfort for longer.Ear infections can be caused by viruses,in which case the antibiotic is not going to help;time will. You should go back to your doctor to have it rechecked and make sure it's getting better;you may need a change of meds.
