MFM: A perinatologist is an OB/GYN who completed additional training in high risk Obstetrics. We also call this Maternal Fetal Medicine.

OB specialist: A perinatologist is an OB/GYN that completed a 3 year fellowship in maternal fetal medicine. They specialize in Ultrasound and prenatal diagnosis and treatment of high risk pregnancies. They typically act as consultants to co-manage a pregnancy with your Ob/GYN (although a few totally manage the patients themselves)
