Yes: Severe morbid obesity is associated with serious maternal diseases and pregnancy complications that need the close follow up of a perinatologist. I would advise to check with your general obstetrician to see if your obesity is severe and/or if you have other comorbidities (other diseases) that justify that subspecialized care.
