Level 2: A level 2 ultrasound examines the structures of the fetus by ultrasound. It examines the fetal heart, abdomen, central nervous system, arms and legs. The person trained to interpret these images is a perinatologist, or maternal fetal medicine physician. They have extensive training in obstetrics, genetics, and ultrasound.
