A member asked:

Can you have an amniotic fluid embolisim without any trauma to uterus? how do you prevent cervical tears that cause afe?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Rare: Fortunately amniotic fluid embolism is rare and it is not necessarily caused by cervical tears. The only way to completely prevent cervical tears is by c-section before labor and amniotic fluid embolism can occur with c-section. This is truly sufficiently rare that it is not a realistic worry. Talk to your OB and if you continue to worry seek counseling to help with your fear. Hope this helps.
