Pain will go gradual: pain can linger longer if you have muscle spasm. but either way, dont be surprised if it goes on longer than one week. recovery and resolution will be quicker if you do everything right- rest, relax the muscle, take pain meds and do gentle range of motion exercises AFTER the pain goes away. the key is not to rush it
